Cover Story

It’s a freedom that’s lacking at this moment in time, but its memory shines through in faces, in a way of wearing a jacket, a suit; in a way of moving, of looking into the lens and beyond, into one’s inner world to find equilibrium. Each one of these women and men has done this in their own way and wished to record it, to leave a mark. An epilogue.

GUCCI EPILOGUE

KEN SCOTT

Epilogue: coda, the conclusion of a speech, an event.
This is the name Gucci has chosen for its latest collection, part of which, specifically, is characterised by floral prints drawn from the archive of American designer Ken Scott, whose brand is now owned by the celebrated textile manufacturer Mantero.
There are numerous patterns, mainly oversize flower prints. An abundance of peonies, roses, poppies and sunflowers, all ungendered, adorn both garments and accessories.
“Ken Scott was a really great creator of fabrics,” Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele says, “he mapped out flowers with romanticism and flowers into pop culture. He treated flowers like shop signs, he multiplied them, turned them into something that stood out. I like his work because I am obsessed with floral prints.”

The models wear the pieces with expressive freedom, inhabiting the fabrics and the flowers as an artwork waiting to be explored and a source of inspiration for the mood of our age.
